None at all. Our kayaks are stable and easy to paddle, and your guide is with you throughout. We've had guests of all ages and fitness levels — if you can sit in a boat and follow simple instructions, you're good to go.
Both are special, but they offer different experiences.
The sunrise tour takes you out as the lagoon wakes up. Birds beginning to stir, monkeys appearing in the trees, the light changing slowly over the water. It's quiet in a way that's hard to describe.
The sunset tour has warmer light, more activity along the banks — and as dusk settles, the bats emerge in large numbers over the lagoon. It's one of those moments that stays with you.
If you can only choose one and you're an early riser — sunrise. If you'd rather end your day on the water — sunset.
Garadu Lagoon is rich with wildlife. You'll typically encounter water monitor lizards, grey langur monkeys, a wide variety of birds and large fruit bats — particularly on the sunset tour as they emerge at dusk. Kingfishers, herons and eagles are commonly spotted along the banks.
Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed — but the lagoon rarely disappoints.
It's gentle. The lagoon is calm and sheltered — there's no current to fight and no open sea. The pace is set by you and your group. Most guests find it relaxing rather than tiring. If you have any physical concerns, reach out before you book and we'll talk it through.
Your kayak, paddle, life jacket, dry bag for your belongings, mosquito repellent and refreshments. Your guide leads the tour and knows the lagoon well — they'll point out wildlife and share the history of the area.
Tours depart from our kayak base at Garadu Lagoon. We offer tuk tuk pick-up from hotels and guesthouses within 12 km — pricing is the same as for our other activities. Please arrive 30 minutes before your tour starts.
Comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a little wet, sunscreen and closed or strap-on footwear. Mosquito repellent is provided. Your dry bag keeps your phone, camera and valuables safe during the tour.
Yes — children are welcome from age 6 when sharing a kayak with an adult. Life jackets are provided for all ages. The lagoon is calm and safe for families.
