We understand that plans change. Our cancellation policy is designed to be as fair as possible while accounting for the operational realities of running ocean-based activities.
Operator Cancellations (Weather and Conditions)
If Mirissa Collective cancels your activity due to weather conditions, sea conditions, or any other circumstances within our control, you will receive a full refund. You will also have the option to reschedule at no additional cost. For PADI courses, the PADI eLearning amount (LKR 49,500 per participant) is not refunded once the code has been bought; see PADI eLearning below.
We take this seriously. We do not cancel lightly, and when we do, you get back everything you paid except the PADI eLearning amount for PADI courses.
Customer Cancellations: Standard Activities
Applies to: Fun Dives, Discover Scuba Diving, snorkeling, whale watching, kayak, fishing, and all other activities except PADI multi-day courses.
| Notice given before activity | Refund |
|---|---|
| More than 72 hours | 100% refund |
| 48–72 hours | 50% refund |
| 24–48 hours | 25% refund |
| Less than 24 hours | No refund |
| No-show | No refund |
PADI Open Water Referral, starting with us:the standard activity tiers above apply, except that LKR 49,500 per participant covers that participant's personal PADI eLearning code. Once the code has been issued (usually within a day of booking), that amount is non-refundable, including documented illness, injury or accident and cancellations by us. Extras such as tuk tuk transfers follow the standard tiers.
Customer Cancellations: PADI Courses
Applies to: PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Junior Open Water Diver, PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, PADI Rescue Diver, PADI Scuba Diver, PADI ReActivate, and the PADI Open Water Referral when you finish your open water dives with us.
| Notice given before Day 1 | Refund |
|---|---|
| More than 7 days | 100% refund including deposit |
| 3–7 days | Deposit forfeited, remainder refunded |
| Less than 3 days | No refund |
PADI Open Water Referral, finishing with us: the PADI course tiers above apply. There is no PADI eLearning amount, because you did your eLearning with your first dive centre.
PADI eLearning:LKR 49,500 per participant covers that participant's personal PADI eLearning code, which we buy from PADI. Once the code has been issued, that amount is non-refundable. If you book less than 48 hours before Day 1, we buy the code straight away, so the amount is non-refundable from the moment you book. This applies to every cancellation, including documented illness, injury or accident and cancellations by us because of weather or sea conditions. It does not apply if you booked with your own completed PADI eLearning.
Documented Illness, Injury or Accident
If you are unable to attend due to documented illness, injury, or an unforeseen emergency, you are entitled to a full refund regardless of when you cancel, except the PADI eLearning amount for PADI courses (see above). We will ask for appropriate documentation (e.g. a doctor's note or hospital record).
PADI Course: Interrupted Participation
If you begin a PADI course but are unable to complete it, the following applies:
- If you cannot attend Day 2 or later after completing Day 1, no refund will be issued for the days attended.
- If you have completed the requirements for PADI Scuba Diver but not the full Open Water Diver course, your instructor may register you for the PADI Scuba Diver certification instead. This is the instructor's decision, based on the skills you have completed. Where the Scuba Diver course costs less than the course you booked, we may refund part of the difference; the amount reflects the training, equipment and PADI materials already provided, and is confirmed by our team at the time.
- You may resume your course within 90 days of your original start date for an administration fee of LKR 8,375.
- After 90 days, resumption is not possible and the booking is considered closed.
How Refunds Are Processed
Refunds are returned by the same method you used to pay. If you paid by card, the refund goes back to that card through our bank's payment gateway, and typically takes 5–10 business days to appear on your statement, depending on your bank. If you paid in cash on arrival, the refund is made in cash at our dive centre. We do not issue vouchers or credit notes.
To request a cancellation and refund:
- Click the "Request a Refund" link in your booking confirmation email.
- Fill in the short form with your reason and, if applicable, documentation.
- We will review your request and confirm the refund amount within 2 business days.
- Once approved, card refunds are typically processed within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank. If you paid in cash, we will arrange your refund with you directly.
Rescheduling
We are happy to help you move your booking to a different date, subject to availability. To reschedule, click the "Reschedule my booking" link in your confirmation email. Rescheduling requests do not incur a fee when submitted more than 72 hours before your activity.
